Academics

Our teaching is up-to-date, challenging, varied, and stimulating in order to develop students into critical, reflective, systematic, analytical, and creative thinkers and doers.

In our courses, we deal with topics, methods, concepts, and theories at the interface between digital technologies and business models, as well as strategies and the management and organization of companies. Our courses are closely linked to our research activities. Current research findings are therefore quickly incorporated into our teaching.

Beyond providing up-to-date declarative knowledge, our courses are designed to develop students' critical and analytical thinking. To challenge students intellectually, discussions of key theories, seminal research articles and case studies are an integral part of the course.

The professorship relies on innovative learning methods that go beyond traditional lectures. Interactive seminars, case studies, and project work are just some of the methods used. These approaches encourage students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills and prepare them to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.

The focus of the curriculum is on linking digitalization and sustainability. It aims to enable students to develop pioneering digital solutions that are both responsible and economically viable. Graduates should not only become technology experts, but also become architects for a sustainable digital future.

We also regularly invite leading academics and practitioners from companies to complement the course content and ensure that students are informed about the latest developments in the digital field. Procedural knowledge elements related to programming, statistics and management methods are also part of our courses, as these skills are essential for business students to solve new and complex problems.

We increasingly rely on concepts of blended learning (also known as flipped classroom) to involve students more actively and to promote problem-solving skills as well as presentation and cooperation skills. Accordingly, interactive, student-centered activities in class such as group work, interactive response systems, short presentations and discussions are an integral part of our teaching.
